Golf trophies are all creating in the image of a big gold cup with a name engraved on the surface, right? Fortunately the answer to that question is, wrong. The golf trophy has changed over the last 70 years and evolved into something more than just a cup with a name. The golf trophy is a work of art, designed in a variety of images, shapes and sizes. Creating a golf trophy that represents your organization or your tournament may take a little time, but the end product will be well worth that time.
Choosing the Golf Trophy Image
The first choice you will need to make is the image that will be represented by the golf trophy. Some golf trophies are created as a cup while others as a golf club. As times changed, the golfing trophy has even taken on some eclectic images that really have nothing to do with golf at all. This first decision for your golf trophy will be the most important. The images will fall into classic (representational) and non classic (artistic). Once the image is chosen, the details of the golf trophy can be ironed out.
Choosing the Fine Details for Your Golf Trophy
With the image chosen, the golf trophy can now be personalized for your golf competition or celebration. There are two ways to personalize the golf trophy. The first is with the name of the winner. The trouble with name personalization is the fact that the winner cannot be known before the event. For this reason, many golf trophies are personalized with the name of the tournament or event and the date of said event. Using this vague personalization does not take away from the prestige of winning the golf trophy, but allows the trophy to be given on the day of the event and kept.
An alternative is to choose some basic personalization and have the name of the winner added to the golf trophy after the event is concluded. This is the same tactic used by the Oscar’s. The initial trophy given is a “dummy” trophy with the real award being sent to the winner after the event has concluded.
The golf trophy is more than a representation of winning. It represents the dedication and time spent on the golf course to acquire the skills needed to win. It represents the love of the sport and the competition. Creating the optimal golf trophy requires a bit of thought, but when the end of the event is here and the golf trophy is awarded, that time is well worth it. |
